Think Christian: A Christian Defense of Horror

If you spend enough time on this site, you’ll see that I’m a Christian who loves horror movies. Not everyone gets that, which I understand — horror movies are all about evoking fear, and the basic message of Christianity can be boiled down to “fear not.”

But I also believe that learning to move past fear involves recognizing and addressing fear, and that’s where horror movies excel. I have an article that talks about that in specific terms, but I got to chat about it on the latest Think Christian podcast. The great Chicago critic and Filmspotting co-host Josh Larsen and I chat about The Exorcist, a movie that I love and he is less than enthusiastic about. Also, that episodes features a conversation between Larsen and the fantastic critic Abby Olcese, talking about 2014’s It Follows.

Either way, you can’t lose — check it out here!
